Ruth’s Big Fall

27 September 2008 - 11:14 AM by Rachel
20080927Ruth-1 Just a small scary moment for us last night during a cal-de-sac party at a neighboring street.  Ruth was having a blast running and playing when she tripped over her own feet.  Chris and I were both in the middle of a conversation with our backs to Ruth when someone in the conversation asked “is that little girl all right?”  My heart stopped for a moment when I turned around and saw Ruth laying flat on the blacktop.  We ran to Ruth and I rolled her over to find her face all scraped up and Ruth crying.  Chris and our friend Tara took Ruth inside to get her cleaned up while I found Cameron.  Needless to say we ended our evening early and Mommy got the privilege of snuggling with Ruth in her bed all night.  During prayers, Ruth thanked God for keeping her safe so that she didn’t need stitches like Cameron had to get when he hurt his head.  I thanked God for such a wonderful daughter that I am so very proud of.  Ruth was happy because she made two new friends.  One girl named Elaina and another girl name unknown.  Ruth and I are both excited now that she’ll have a really cool look for her fall photos at school this coming week.  We are so blessed with two incredible kids!  THANK YOU GOD!!!

Cameron loves his sister!!!

31 August 2008 - 12:11 PM by Rachel

With Ruth's first big day of kindergarten, I often thought about how I would feel as she got on the bus.  Would I be a parent that cried or got upset?  No, I was that parent that had both the video camera and the photo camera going at the same time.  It never crossed my mind though about how Cameron would feel with his big sister going off to school and leaving him alone at home.

I was so excited when I was able to capture the photo of Cameron wiping his eyes while watching Ruth get on the bus.  It didn't hit home as to how he really felt until I turned around with the video camera and he was still wiping his eyes.  I asked if he was ok and he just started to cry really hard.  He said "I miss Ruthie!"  It broke my heart.  We just sat there at the bus stop and held each other for awhile.  It was a mixture of emotions for me.  Happy to see Ruth so excited to go to school.  Sad Cameron was losing his best buddy for a few hours.  Happy I got Cameron to myself for a few hours.  Thrilled I got his emotions captured on videotape for the kids to cherish for years to come... CAMERON DOES LOVE HIS SISTER RUTHIE!!!

Where does the time go?

16 November 2007 - 03:12 PM by Rachel

It's amazing how the old saying is so true... kids grow up so fast!  It seems like only last month that I took this photo of Ruth and Cameron.  The innocence they show.  The nurturing nature Ruth had and the instant mommy she became to Cameron.

Then there was Ruth on her first day of preschool last year and Cameron saying goodbye.  He loves his big sister.  He truly would miss her when she got out of the car, and the happy squeals I would hear when she got back into the car made me smile from ear to ear.  We are truly blessed!

Peanut Butter Art

11 November 2007 - 01:39 PM by Rachel

When you love your family, you love everything about them.  This would tend to include the person that they are and most things that they say and do.  I love my family for the caring hearts they have and the teamwork they show on a daily basis.  Ruth and Cameron definitely work together when trying to share their toys and their responsibilities.  They also share in their passion for the arts... especially when painting with peanut butter.  I love my family and I am blessed to know that they love me!

Cameron's Potty Training

11 November 2007 - 11:47 AM by Rachel

OK... This is my first attempt to add a blog.  Anyone who knows me knows that I love BUTTS.  The noises they make and the things they do.  Which leads me to one of the parenting joys that make me proud... potty training.

Cameron will be 3 years old on November 18th.  He has been showing an interest in potty training.  He'll usually let us know right after an incident.  Just before Halloween, Cameron wanted to wear one of his sisters pull ups.  I explained that he can pull them up and down in order to go to the potty.  While outside riding his bike, Cameron had to go potty.  I discovered this when looking out the window to check on him and he was riding his Diego bike butt naked.  When I asked him where his pull up went, he pointed to the garage and said "in there".  God Love Him!  Cameron did not poop in his pull up.  Instead he pooped on the garage floor.  Nice try Cameron!
