Happy Anniversary, Rachel

6 May 2008 - 03:42 PM by Chris

It was 8 years ago today that we vowed before God, our family, and friends to love and be with each other for the rest of our lives.

8 years later, I still think it's the smartest decision I've ever made.

I love you.

Fantastic story of sportsmanship

3 May 2008 - 07:53 AM by chris

Synopsis: College senior softball player hits her first ever home run, but injures her knee rounding bases. By rule, her teammates can't help her around the bases, so the other team does. Amazing.

Read it on MSN.

I hope I raise my kids to behave like this.

State of TheLuebbes.com

3 February 2008 - 11:02 AM by Chris

Hello, reader. Let me begin by apologizing for the complete lack of human-authored posts lately. Life has been busy as you might expect for a husband, father of two, tournament bowler at the tip of tournament season.

As much as I would like it to be different, I don't foresee the frequency of my posting increase in the next few weeks. Bowling takes up quite a bit of my free time in the months February through May. I bowl in league on Monday and Friday nights, and I bowl in tournaments two or three weekends a month.

I also am working on two web projects that I'd like to spend more time on. I'll give you more details on each as they get closer to release, but suffice it to say, I'm not spending enough time on these as it is.

Additionally, there's that little matter of being a family man. Ruth turns 5 today (already?!?), Cameron is turning into a true boy (climbing, jumping, breaking things, fighting with his sister), and Rachel has needs, too (ahem, I am her husband). Did I mention movies, television, and Xbox?

Oh, by the way, I have a day job, too.

Can I have 32 hours in a day, please?

Change to the site

I've realized that the delicious bookmark posts get really annoying when there aren't normal posts to break them up. And since I'm taking more advantage of delicious now that it integrates seamlessly into Firefox, the delicious bookmark posts happen almost daily.

So, there won't be any more of those. But, in case the links are interesting to you, I've included the 15 most recent bookmarks in a widget in the sidebar. I've also included a link to the RSS feed for that, if you're into that sort of thing.

I'm sure you'll appreciate the delicious posts going away, but if you happen to like the content, you can still get to it.

Enjoy.

Selling my PlayStation 2

9 December 2007 - 09:35 AM by Chris

Well, the time has come to part ways with my trusty PS2. Just in time for the Christmas season, here's what I'm selling:

  1. 1 PlayStation 2 Console
  2. 2 Controllers
  3. 1 Controller Extension Cable
  4. 1 Beat Pad (for dance games like DDR)
  5. 1 USB Headset/Microphone (for games like SOCOM: Navy Seals)
  6. 1 Guitar Hero Guitar w/unused stickers
  7. 1 Network Adapter w/setup disk
  8. 2 Memory Cards
  9. Over 90 games, including all the Guitar Hero games (1, 2, 80s, 3), Madden 07, Tiger Woods 07, GTA: San Andreas, and much more.

In addition, the console has been given special powers that stock PS2s just don't have. You'll have to figure this out on your own. ;)

This would make a fantastic Christmas present for your children or even yourself. Because you're really just an oversized child. It's OK. We all are.

Anyhoo...if any of the three of you reading this (hi, Rusty!) want to pick this up or know of someone in the market for a "fully-featured" PS2, let me know. I'm looking for $350. I'll take just about any offer.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

8 December 2007 - 07:47 AM by Chris

Yesterday, I received a letter in the mail informing me that I was chosen as the winner of a most fantastical prize for participating in the X Marks the Spot contest: a $20 Dominos gift card! (I'm still working on my sarcasm.) Peep the scanned letter below.

xmts

For those that are uninformed, X Marks the Spot is a Microsoft sponsored online scavenger hunt. Each day for 36 days, they post 10 clues. 36 days. 10 clues. 360 total clues. Xbox 360. Geez, do I have to spell everything out for you?!?

Anyway, each clue refers to a webpage on which the text was altered to contain a word whose x has been colored green. Find the word and enter it as the answer to the clue. Each correct answer is an entry to the contest.

Prizes range from packs of gum to a Pontiac G8 sedan and plenty in between, including Zunes and of course Xbox 360s. My eyes will definitely be on the mailbox for more letters.

Caution: Wet Paint

29 November 2007 - 04:39 PM by Chris

newdesign Since I've been using an out-of-the-box theme since I moved the blog over to BlogEngine.net, I figured it was time to hook the site up to a design of my own.

This new design is meant to be the first phase of many. I plan to move much of the sidebar content to the footer and add a useless, but fun, interactive graphic to the header.

All that will come in time, but I wanted to get this first phase out the door, so to speak, and get away from the built in theme for my blog platform.

If you're reading this from your feed reader or email box, click on through to see the site in all is glory.

Enjoy.
