Cameron's Crack-Blood

26 April 2008 - 09:39 AM by Chris

cam_stitches_large For those of you who haven't heard by now, on Wednesday, April 16, Cameron took a header jumping off the family room sofa into a pile of pillows. Unfortunately, his aim wasn't so good and he met our marble-topped coffee table with his forehead. By the grace of God, he only needed 4 stitches. My mind (the Devil?) is still thinking of ways this could have been much worse.

Disclaimer: if you are squeamish, skip this paragraph. Cameron split his forehead only about an inch or two horizontally over his right eyebrow, but it went all the way to the skull. It was rather remarkable when I first saw the wound.

You uneasy stomach types back? Good.

Amazingly, Cameron only cried for a minute or two and didn't really bleed all that much. The only discomfort he let on to was when Rachel tried holding a towel against his head to mitigate any bleeding. He's such a tough little man.

Rachel and Cameron rode in the Ross Township ambulance to the ER at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati and I met them there. We were led to the operating room much more quickly than I expected. Everyone at Children's was fantastic, including the doctor who sewed up little Cam's forehead.

When we were in the operating room waiting for the doctor, the nurse asked Cameron what happened to his forehead and he said, "I have a crack-blood." Rachel and I got a much-needed chuckle out of that one.

Fast-forward to this past Wednesday, after the stitches have already been removed, when Ruth and Cameron were outside playing in a little baby pool. Ruth was splashing water up with her hands when she accidentally backhanded Cameron right on his cut! It started to bleed, so Rachel again took Cameron to the ER, this time to Children's Urgent Care in Fairfield. Luckily, it didn't require anything more than the application of some medial glue.

The poor guy has had a rough couple of weeks. And God Bless Rachel for being strong through all of it. She's amazing.

This post could also be titled, "Proof Chris has ADD."

Edwin Encarnacion has been at bat with the bases loaded and 2 outs 3 times in the last 2 days. He popped out all three times. I didn't mention his 4 throwing errors in 9 games. I never thought I'd miss Aaron Boone.

I thought Halo 3 was sweet until I started playing Call of Duty 4. No contest.

I lusted over Burnout Paradise when I started seeing reviews and trailers. I downloaded the demo and thought it was really good, but it didn't make me want to run out and buy it right away. Amazon had it for $20 off a couple of weeks ago, so I snagged it. I wish I had bought it the day it came out. It's that good. Haven't played it online yet. Gotta get that Xbox Live Gold card...

Rachel and Ruth are addicted to Lego Star Wars.

Cameron is addicted to his new train set.

I'm addicted to Chipotle. Why, oh why, isn't there one in downtown Cincinnati?

Winter bowling season is coming to an end. I'll likely finish with a 207 average on Monday nights (at Glenmore) and a 185 on Friday (Colerain on a sport shot). I'm pretty happy with my average on Monday. I'm pretty happy I won't be bowling at Colerain next year.

Two out-of-town bowling tournaments coming up: St. Clairsville and Louisville. Sometimes profitable, always fun.

If you use Windows and need multiple applications in view at any given time, may I suggest GridMove.

Someone needs to tell George Grande he's not on the radio.

Rather than eat his lunch yesterday, Cameron decided to put it in the toilet. Sorry, no pictures.

So, anything you want to talk about?

Ruth and Cameron rode the Christmas Train at Northgate Mall recently. Just what do you think was on Cameron's mind when this shot was snapped? Tell us in the comments!

Peep more photos from the excursion.

We <3 Ruthie

16 December 2007 - 09:54 PM by Chris

Ruth Our little princess, Ruth, will be celebrating her 4th Christmas next week. She can hardly wait. Each morning she heads to the refrigerator where we have a family planning calendar. And each morning, she counts down the number of days until Santa's arrival.

Nothing much else to say....just wanted an excuse to post this pic.

Enjoy.

Where does the time go?

16 November 2007 - 03:12 PM by Rachel

It's amazing how the old saying is so true... kids grow up so fast!  It seems like only last month that I took this photo of Ruth and Cameron.  The innocence they show.  The nurturing nature Ruth had and the instant mommy she became to Cameron.

Then there was Ruth on her first day of preschool last year and Cameron saying goodbye.  He loves his big sister.  He truly would miss her when she got out of the car, and the happy squeals I would hear when she got back into the car made me smile from ear to ear.  We are truly blessed!

Peanut Butter Art

11 November 2007 - 01:39 PM by Rachel

When you love your family, you love everything about them.  This would tend to include the person that they are and most things that they say and do.  I love my family for the caring hearts they have and the teamwork they show on a daily basis.  Ruth and Cameron definitely work together when trying to share their toys and their responsibilities.  They also share in their passion for the arts... especially when painting with peanut butter.  I love my family and I am blessed to know that they love me!

Cameron's Potty Training

11 November 2007 - 11:47 AM by Rachel

OK... This is my first attempt to add a blog.  Anyone who knows me knows that I love BUTTS.  The noises they make and the things they do.  Which leads me to one of the parenting joys that make me proud... potty training.

Cameron will be 3 years old on November 18th.  He has been showing an interest in potty training.  He'll usually let us know right after an incident.  Just before Halloween, Cameron wanted to wear one of his sisters pull ups.  I explained that he can pull them up and down in order to go to the potty.  While outside riding his bike, Cameron had to go potty.  I discovered this when looking out the window to check on him and he was riding his Diego bike butt naked.  When I asked him where his pull up went, he pointed to the garage and said "in there".  God Love Him!  Cameron did not poop in his pull up.  Instead he pooped on the garage floor.  Nice try Cameron!
